Open Question: car problem-takes a while to accelerate, has a hard time on freeway?

So my 1986 honda accord has been fine, and I had a trustworthy mechanic check it (my dad knows him) and all he said was the transmission fluid needs to be changed, which he did himself. Anyway, starting yesterday, the car has had some problems on the freeway. When I try to accelerate it doesn't have enough power and takes a while to accelerate (a long time) eventually it did get to 70 mph (after driving a couple of miles). On regular roads there are no problems. Why is it doing this?
